Violet is a bright flower common on almost all continents of the planet. But most often one of its varieties can be found not in the wild, but in houses and apartments as an interior decoration. Many varieties of violets, differing in the color of the flowers and the characteristics of flowering, have the same care requirements. This makes them attractive for growing both by experienced gardeners and amateurs.
What does violet Humaco Inches look like?
Humako Inches violet is most common among indoor flower lovers. This is due to its extraordinary beauty: the combination of snow-white edges of the petals with a blue-violet core stands out clearly against the background of light green leaves. A rosette of leaves looks neat and compact, framing multiple peduncles.

Due to the small villi located on all the leaves of the plant, as well as the velvety surface of the petals, the violet is covered with many sparkling sun glare. This effect gives the flower even more decorative.
For your information! Humaco violet belongs to the Gesneriev family. This is a hybrid variety bred by the Dutch floriculture company Humako. The name of the company is in the name of each of their plants. But the word "inches" translates as "inches", which is an indication of the size of varietal violets.
In nature, plants of this family can reach a height of 30 cm, but indoor varieties are much smaller in size.
About the history of appearance
For the first time, violet was found in the mountains of East Africa, so the variety is often called uzambar by the name of the mountains.
The scientific name for the genus of violets is Saintpaulia. The word comes from the German language, formed from the surname of Baron Saint-Paul, who first found the most beautiful flower. His breeder friend immediately brought out the first home senpolia, which in just a few decades won the love of flower growers all over the planet and became the progenitor of modern varieties of violets.

Note! Violets were not named that way because of their purple color. The name of the flower comes from the word "viola" - so it is called in Latin. In Polish, this word was changed to "fialek", from there it passed into the Russian language as "violet" and became the basis for the name of the color.
Humako Inches Home Care Features
Violet Humako Inches is popular among lovers of indoor plants, including because it does not need to be looked after in a special way. Unpretentiousness, combined with a long flowering period and the extraordinary beauty of the flowers, makes almost all varieties of Saintpaulias a very successful domestic plant.
Important! Each rosette of the flower should be located in a separate pot. Lateral processes should be removed on time without damaging the mother plant.
Temperature
The optimum temperature for the senpolia is from 18 ° C to 24 ° C. In winter, the air should not be cooled to less than 10 ° C.
Too high indoor temperature can slow down the development of the plant, and flowering will not occur. Low temperatures, even brief ones, can ruin a flower.
Lighting
The correct arrangement of the flower in the room will make care for it already successful by 50%. The place should be sufficiently lit, without direct sunlight.
From the quality of lighting depends on the duration of flowering, and the success of breeding Saintpaulia. At least half a day in the room must be scattered light. If the flower is located on the south window, it is worth taking care of curtains or a mosquito net to protect against scorching rays.

Watering
As for other indoor plants, for irrigation of violets of the Humako cultivar, water at room temperature should be used for at least 12 hours.
When determining the watering regime for your violet, it should be borne in mind that the soil under the flower should be sufficiently moistened, but not too damp. It is important that the water does not fall on the leaves and petals of the plant, since in this case decay can begin.
In winter, when the room temperature is lower, watering is done only after the top layer of soil under the plant dries.
Spraying
Spraying to increase air humidity should not be used for violets. As mentioned above, moisture on a rosette or flowers can cause the plant to rot.
In addition, moisture drops on the leaves of violets are an excellent medium for the reproduction of various pests.
Humidity
50% humidity in the room will be the best indicator for the senpolia. During hot summers or when central heating is turned on in winter, the air can become arid to the flower. You can fix this with a pan of wet pebbles under a pot with Humaco Inches violet.
Priming
Soil for growing and maintaining violets must contain peat and sand. At the same time, at the bottom of the tank, you need to make a drainage layer of fine expanded clay or sphagnum moss. The easiest way to choose the right soil for violets is to choose a ready-made balanced mixture in a flower shop.

In spring and summer, violet requires regular top dressing (optimally 2 times a week). For this, mineral dressing, diluted according to the scheme, 2 g per 1 liter of water, is suitable.

The flowering period of violets of this variety is quite long - about nine months (from early spring to late autumn). Old inflorescences disappear, in their place new ones immediately blossom.
The petals of this flower can be double (for example, as in the Humako Pink variety) or semi-double, forming a flower with a diameter of up to 8 cm. Violet seeds appear after flowering in miniature boxes.
Experts say that the Humaco senpolia has a double variety. It differs in the smaller size of the flowers and the wavy edges of the petals. The original hybrid has smooth large petals. It is noteworthy that most often in floriculture shops it is Humako Inches 2 (or Humako Inches Nounheim) that is found, and not the original variety.

In the hot season, the flowers of the Humaco Inches variety grow in a blue-violet core and become less white on the petals. When cooling, on the contrary, the petals turn slightly white.

How to Propagate Humaco Inches Violet
There are two ways to propagate this cultivar of violets: seeds and cuttings. Growing from seeds is extremely rare at home. Most likely, the flower grower will not even find them in ordinary flower shops. The plant needs enhanced care at different stages of cultivation, so it’s easier to take a stalk from an adult healthy plant.
Gradually, new leaflets will appear around the rooted cuttings.
Description of violet cuttings:
- A strong leaf is taken from the mother plant from the lower tier of the outlet.
- The leaf is cut at an angle, the place of the cut on the flower is treated with activated carbon.
- The cut leaf is placed in a container (preferably dark glass) with water at room temperature.
- After 1.5-2 months, roots appear at the cut, and the leaf can be planted in the soil.
Experienced gardeners root leaves of violets in a moistened sphagnum moss or immediately in the ground.
